The 24th Biennial Conference on the Biology of Marine Mammals is almost here!
With just days to go before you arrive in Palm Beach for SMM2022, here’s what you need to know:
CONFERENCE VENUE & MAPS
Palm Beach County Convention Center

Pre-conference workshops start on July 30-31, 2022. The main conference will be held on August 1-5, 2022. All conference sessions will be held at the Palm Beach County Convention Center (PBCCC) in Palm Beach, Florida.
GETTING HERE
COVID RECOMMENDATIONS
Masks, social distancing, and hand sanitizer are encouraged during SMM2022. For further SMM2022 recommended guidelines, please click HERE.
Travelling from outside the United States? You must be fully vaccinated with the primary series of an accepted COVID-19 vaccine to travel to the US by plane if you are a non-U.S. citizen, non-U.S. immigrant, but no negative COVID-19 test is required. GET ORGANIZED WITH THE VIRTUAL CONFERENCE PLATFORM / PROGRAM

DOWNLOAD THE CONFERENCE APP
Downloading is easy! Simply click HERE to download the conference app on your Apple or Android device or scan the QR code below.
Once you have downloaded the app, click the log in button below the conference banner on the app home screen. On the login screen it will ask for your credentials. Enter the email and password you used to sign into SMM to register as an attendee for this conference.
If you are having trouble logging into the app, click the “Email me Magic Link”. The app will display a confirmation screen to prompt you to check your email. To utilize the Email me Magic Link option, you will need access to your email on the mobile device you are logging into. Access can be via app or browser.

SPEAKER UPLOAD
New this conference!
New this conference, in-person presenters will be able to upload their presentations in a new advance submission website, as well as onsite at the conference; however, only in-person presenters giving an oral, speed talk or video presentation need to upload their presentation. Poster presenters do not need to upload their poster here.
In-person presenters may submit their PowerPoint presentation (or video file for video presenters) before and during the conference via the internet until the last day of show. To access the new advance submission site, login to the conference software (where you submitted your abstract) and at the top of the page will be instructions.
You can also upload your presentation at a computer in the speaker upload room onsite in Room 1J. Hours for the speaker upload room are below:

PLEASE NOTE: All presenters (in-person and virtual) should have already uploaded their video presentation materials (i.e. video presentation, poster PDF and/or other presentation materials) in the conference software. If you have not already done so, do so ASAP.
BADGE POLICY
Please check-in at registration before attending any workshops or SMM2022 event(s). An attendee barcode (i.e. QR code) will be sent out before you arrive in Palm Beach that you will be able to use to scan at the self-serve registration kiosk. SMM2022 badges and lanyards are required for the duration of the conference to ensure admittance to all talks and events. Badge policies will be strictly enforced.
CONCESSION PURCHASES
Only electronic purchases (i.e. credit, debit, Apple Pay only) can be made at the Palm Beach County Convention Center (no cash). Purchases can include lunch concessions and cashless bars at poster sessions and evening events. A limited number of Visa cards will be available for purchase at the registration desk. ATMs are available in both the convention center and the hotels.
WHAT TO WEAR
August in Florida is generally sunny and humid outdoors, while indoors it can be air conditioned chilly. You should wear warm weather clothing (in a tropic motif if you so choose), comfortable shoes, and if you get chilly, a light sweater or jacket. When outside, please be sure to wear sunscreen, glasses, and a hat. Be sure to check out the local weather for Palm Beach to help you know what to pack.
SECURITY TIPS
Palm Beach is a very walking-friendly town where shops, convenience stores, restaurants, pubs, and entertainment are all easily accessible within a few blocks of the convention center and your hotels.
